About

My name is Charlotte Tegan and I am twenty-three years old. I am from Brisbane, Australia.
This blog is a photographic record of the places I travel to and the things that I see.

I do not claim any artistic specialty here, though I do claim a place to collate an anthology of memories.

I have a degree in Art History and Media Studies, and have a keen interest both in the history of images and documentation, and the importance of visual stimuli for personal reflection and interaction.

Most photographs on this blog have been captured with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 and Nikon D80. Although I also like to use disposable film cameras.

I do not edit the content of my photographs, although sometimes I do crop them into different dimensions.
I believe the best photographs are taken with intent and calculation, even if only quickly and on a whim.

The Maid of the Mist - on the American side of the falls. A view from the lookout, after our boat ride. My camera had a flat battery so I tried to get a photo on my phone, but was super scared of dropping it over the edge. The colour of the water was incredible.

Glass sculptures in the Corning Museum of Glass, New York state.
The single most impressive museum I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. I never knew you could make so many things from glass! The shapes, the textures. It was mind-blowing.

I was really psyched to see the Washington DC that we see all the time in popular media - press conferences with Obama, political demonstrations on TV, superhero films… but when I got there, it turned out that the whole Reflecting Pool was being dug up for renovations, and the Washington Monument was closed due to earthquake damage. Also, it was pouring with rain.
